Narrative:

We were at cruise altitude deviating around WX near minow intersection. We told ATC we needed 20 more mi east of course. ATC said unable. When we asked why; we were told 'to stay clear of area 174.' we checked and it seemed we were well clear of that area. We asked if he could do a pointout and he flatly refused. ATC said if we didn't like the WX; we could reverse course. As far as I could tell; we were not as far east as epson; although it's hard to tell when you're deviating. I felt as if I was a burden to the controller and got nothing along the lines of service from him. He put us in a situation where we either had to go through the WX as best as we could or go to miami. Neither choice was a good one.
