Narrative:

We called cmh ground control to taxi. Prior to calling; both PF and PNF reviewed the airport diagram and discussed what our most probable taxi route would be. The ATIS broadcasted runway 28R and runway 28L in use. We both agreed that we would most likely get runway 28L because we were at the FBO on the south side of the airport. When we called for taxi we both agreed that we heard taxi to runway 28L and taxied C2 to taxiway C then went east or taxiway C. Once we arrived at taxiway F; I thought that we were full length and had the PF call ready. He called and said 'we were holding short of runway 28L ready for departure.' tower said 'runway 28L clear for takeoff; fly runway heading.' the PNF read back the instruction and as we taxied onto the runway; I began to see that something didn't seem right. I saw an airport vehicle off my left (snow removal; I think) and at the far end we could see equipment on the runway. Just as we were getting ready to call and ask tower; he transmitted to us to cancel takeoff clearance. Once we exited the runway at C1; tower stated that we were supposed to be runway 28R. We then taxied to runway 28R without further incident; departed runway 28R.

Title: MDT DEP FROM CMH RECEIVED INSTRUCTIONS FOR TKOF; OBSERVED VEHICLE ON/NEAR THE RWY; ATC THEN CANCELED TKOF CLRNC.

Narrative: WE CALLED CMH GND CTL TO TAXI. PRIOR TO CALLING; BOTH PF AND PNF REVIEWED THE ARPT DIAGRAM AND DISCUSSED WHAT OUR MOST PROBABLE TAXI RTE WOULD BE. WHEN WE CALLED FOR TAXI WE BOTH AGREED THAT WE HEARD TAXI TO RWY 28L AND TAXIED C2 TO TXWY C THEN WENT E OR TXWY C. ONCE WE ARRIVED AT TXWY F; I THOUGHT THAT WE WERE FULL LENGTH AND HAD THE PF CALL READY. HE CALLED AND SAID 'WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 28L READY FOR DEP.' TWR SAID 'RWY 28L CLR FOR TKOF; FLY RWY HDG.' THE PNF READ BACK THE INSTRUCTION AND AS WE TAXIED ONTO THE RWY; I BEGAN TO SEE THAT SOMETHING DIDN'T SEEM RIGHT. I SAW AN ARPT VEHICLE OFF MY L (SNOW REMOVAL; I THINK) AND AT THE FAR END WE COULD SEE EQUIP ON THE RWY. JUST AS WE WERE GETTING READY TO CALL AND ASK TWR; HE TRANSMITTED TO US TO CANCEL TKOF CLRNC. ONCE WE EXITED THE RWY AT C1; TWR STATED THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE RWY 28R. WE THEN TAXIED TO RWY 28R WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT; DEPARTED RWY 28R.
