Narrative:

On jan/xa/08 our flight plan was blocked for 16 hours 11 min flight time. We flew 16 hours 58 mins from block-out to block-in; but flight time was over 16 hours. Our operations manual for 2 aircraft double augmented crew page X of the operations specifications says maximum flight time is 16 hours of flight time; but air carrier scheduling has informed me that a percentage of our flight are allowed to have a flight time over 16 hours on the flight plan. I have never seen this situation in writing by company; so I may be in violation of crew duty.
