Narrative:

Received aircraft late from the hangar. During climb out; received an elac #2 fault warning with burnt electrical smell. Went through all procedures; including non-normal supplementary. Elac would not reset and smell went away. Communicated with dispatch and maintenance control. Diverted per maintenance control. Briefed flight attendant on condition of aircraft. Given the aircraft condition we made a normal landing and taxi in. Maintenance found #2 elac box had fried itself.

Title: AN A320 PILOT REPORTS AN ELAC (ELEVATOR AILERON CTL) COMPUTER OVERHEATED IN FLT CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. THE FLT DIVERTED TO A NEARBY ARPT.

Narrative: RECEIVED ACFT LATE FROM THE HANGAR. DURING CLBOUT; RECEIVED AN ELAC #2 FAULT WARNING WITH BURNT ELECTRICAL SMELL. WENT THROUGH ALL PROCS; INCLUDING NON-NORMAL SUPPLEMENTARY. GIVEN THE ACFT CONDITION WE MADE A NORMAL LNDG AND TAXI IN. MAINT FOUND #2 ELAC BOX HAD FRIED ITSELF.
