Narrative:

After being cleared direct to shila; cleared for localizer back-course 3R; we noticed the localizer frequency had not been put in. It couldn't be set in until GPS navigation was complete due to system implications. (It would be overridden by the localizer frequency even if 'GPS' was selected.) poor avionics setup led to lack of ability to properly set aircraft's avionics during approach briefing contributed to error of flying through approach course.

Narrative: AFTER BEING CLRED DIRECT TO SHILA; CLRED FOR LOC BACK-COURSE 3R; WE NOTICED THE LOC FREQ HAD NOT BEEN PUT IN. IT COULDN'T BE SET IN UNTIL GPS NAV WAS COMPLETE DUE TO SYS IMPLICATIONS.
