Narrative:
Departed clt runway 36L on the hornet 2 departure. We climbed to 10000 ft and were accelerating to 330 KIAS; when ATC said 'normal speed; contact ZTL.' the first officer (PF) and I looked at each other. 'Normal speed' implied we had a previous restr that we were not aware of. I checked in with ZTL. We both then checked the SID and discovered both of us had missed a small note at the very bottom of the page that said 'no not exceed 280 KTS until advised by ATC.' I know it's no excuse; but this is on a commercial chart #2 page. Had the commercial chart #2 been formatted like our commercial chart #1 charts; I'm sure this speed restr would have stood out more.
