Narrative:

Due to staffing and the center reducing from 7 to 6 areas; I am being taxed with continual training. While my new area only has 2 of my existing sectors; I am being sent down to my old sectors to stay current once a month. Since the end of december; 2007; I have only had 2 partial days to work the remaining sectors from my old area and have a total of approximately 3-4 hours combined on 3 different sectors. I am not being told to work light traffic only the way they tell supervisors to do and have to work whatever traffic presents itself. Supervisors are required to achieve 8 hours each month on only 1 sector and they are told to stay away from busy traffic. In addition to having to stay current on my old sectors I am training almost every day on my other sectors. This takes away my ability to actively control airplanes because I'm not the one actually working the sector. When I situation down on my 2 remaining sectors I'm supposed to work on; I can do ok because I'm plugged in on them every day while training. When I'm sent down to work the other 3 sectors I have absolutely no feel for the sector or the speed which it takes to work them. This is not just my problem; but this is going on throughout the entire center because we don't have the staffing to do this reduction in areas and the training that is required to safely work our new airspace. I am in no way safe on the 3 remaining sectors due to lack of time working them. All the management cares about in this building is saying that a controller is current; not safe.

Title: ZFW CTLR EXPRESSED CONCERN REGARDING FAC STAFFING AND RE-SECTORING EFFORTS THAT RESULTED IN CURRENCY PROBLEMS FOR CTLR'S.

Narrative: DUE TO STAFFING AND THE CTR REDUCING FROM 7 TO 6 AREAS; I AM BEING TAXED WITH CONTINUAL TRAINING. WHILE MY NEW AREA ONLY HAS 2 OF MY EXISTING SECTORS; I AM BEING SENT DOWN TO MY OLD SECTORS TO STAY CURRENT ONCE A MONTH. SINCE THE END OF DECEMBER; 2007; I HAVE ONLY HAD 2 PARTIAL DAYS TO WORK THE REMAINING SECTORS FROM MY OLD AREA AND HAVE A TOTAL OF APPROX 3-4 HRS COMBINED ON 3 DIFFERENT SECTORS. I AM NOT BEING TOLD TO WORK LIGHT TFC ONLY THE WAY THEY TELL SUPVRS TO DO AND HAVE TO WORK WHATEVER TFC PRESENTS ITSELF. SUPVRS ARE REQUIRED TO ACHIEVE 8 HRS EACH MONTH ON ONLY 1 SECTOR AND THEY ARE TOLD TO STAY AWAY FROM BUSY TFC. IN ADDITION TO HAVING TO STAY CURRENT ON MY OLD SECTORS I AM TRAINING ALMOST EVERY DAY ON MY OTHER SECTORS. THIS TAKES AWAY MY ABILITY TO ACTIVELY CTL AIRPLANES BECAUSE I'M NOT THE ONE ACTUALLY WORKING THE SECTOR. WHEN I SIT DOWN ON MY 2 REMAINING SECTORS I'M SUPPOSED TO WORK ON; I CAN DO OK BECAUSE I'M PLUGGED IN ON THEM EVERY DAY WHILE TRAINING. WHEN I'M SENT DOWN TO WORK THE OTHER 3 SECTORS I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO FEEL FOR THE SECTOR OR THE SPD WHICH IT TAKES TO WORK THEM. THIS IS NOT JUST MY PROB; BUT THIS IS GOING ON THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CTR BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE THE STAFFING TO DO THIS REDUCTION IN AREAS AND THE TRAINING THAT IS REQUIRED TO SAFELY WORK OUR NEW AIRSPACE. I AM IN NO WAY SAFE ON THE 3 REMAINING SECTORS DUE TO LACK OF TIME WORKING THEM. ALL THE MGMNT CARES ABOUT IN THIS BUILDING IS SAYING THAT A CTLR IS CURRENT; NOT SAFE.
