Narrative:

Got the WEVIC1 departure from slc. Commercial chart RNAV departure page shows initial climb to 16000 ft. When checking in with departure control I advised that we were out of 9800 ft climbing to 16000 ft. Departure asks us if we had the slc WEVIC1 NOTAM. We asked which NOTAM. There were NOTAMS on the paperwork but nothing regarding the departure. There were no NOTAMS on the ATIS; ATC clearance; commercial slc pages; or the paper NOTAMS that pertained to this departure or any departure out of slc. TRACON tells us that there was a NOTAM for that departure that said to stop the climb at 14000 ft. We were only at 10000 ft; so it wasn't a factor anyway but we were planning on climbing as per the profile on the departure which had an intermediate stop at 14000 ft. We had a jumpseater who said he had heard of the NOTAM from his union board. ATC gave us a phone number to call. I called after the flight and they said there was a NOTAM out for that departure. I told him that I couldn't find it anywhere. I asked him why; if it was so important; they didn't put it on the ATIS or on the pre departure clearance. He said the ATIS was already full. It wasn't. I called dispatch after talking to TRACON and my dispatcher for that flight said he didn't know that NOTAM was active and didn't know where it was posted either. He said he would look into it.
