Narrative:

About an hour out from lax; we were informed to expect the riivr 1 arrival to runway 25L. The arrival procedure was not in the FMC memory. The arrival was built (all fixes were in memory); and approach and landing were accomplished without incident. Given the advance warning we were provided; this was a non-event; but had this been a last min change; acceptance of a new clearance would have been impossible. None of the riivr arrs to any runway are in the FMC database. The chart from which we built the arrival was the first issue of this procedure; I believe 2 database revisions have been issued since the riivr procedure was issued and the date of this flight. This arrival needs to be added to the B747 FMC database. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter advised he was unsure whether the latest database revision includes the STAR.

Title: B747-400 CAPTAIN ADVISES RIIVR STAR TO LAX IS NOT INCLUDED IN FMS DATABASE.

Narrative: ABOUT AN HR OUT FROM LAX; WE WERE INFORMED TO EXPECT THE RIIVR 1 ARR TO RWY 25L. THE ARR PROC WAS NOT IN THE FMC MEMORY. THE ARR WAS BUILT (ALL FIXES WERE IN MEMORY); AND APCH AND LNDG WERE ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT INCIDENT. GIVEN THE ADVANCE WARNING WE WERE PROVIDED; THIS WAS A NON-EVENT; BUT HAD THIS BEEN A LAST MIN CHANGE; ACCEPTANCE OF A NEW CLRNC WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE. NONE OF THE RIIVR ARRS TO ANY RWY ARE IN THE FMC DATABASE. THE CHART FROM WHICH WE BUILT THE ARR WAS THE FIRST ISSUE OF THIS PROC; I BELIEVE 2 DATABASE REVISIONS HAVE BEEN ISSUED SINCE THE RIIVR PROC WAS ISSUED AND THE DATE OF THIS FLT. THIS ARR NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THE B747 FMC DATABASE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: REPORTER ADVISED HE WAS UNSURE WHETHER THE LATEST DATABASE REVISION INCLUDES THE STAR.
