Narrative:

After selecting the gear down and performing the landing checklist over intersection on approach; I noticed EICAS message 'rh brake fault and lh brake fault.' as the PNF at that time; I instructed my first officer; to go around due to the brake fault messages. After obtaining a heading and altitude assignment from ATC; I ran the appropriate QRH procedures; declared an emergency with ATC requesting the equipment standing by; assumed the duties of PF; and informed my flight attendants of the situation. Due to the fact that I still had adequate braking capacity plus over twice the amount of runway required for the full flap landing (4075 ft needed; 10144 ft available); runway 28 condition: dry; I did not consider that the activation of the flight attendant emergency process was warranted. Airplane landing and taxiing to the gate was uneventful.
