Narrative:

I took off; and as I cleared the runway I pulled the gear lever up. I notice the lever was up; but the 3 green lights were still lit up and the gear was still down. I put the lever down and then back up; the lights went off and I could hear and feel the gear come up. As I continued my climb to 2500 ft and set the plane up in confign; I listened to ATIS; then called tower with the letter of ATIS received and gave my position and intentions to land; full stop. They gave me directions and clearance to land. I then pulled power back and pulled the landing gear down to slow down and prepare for landing. I heard the gear come down and made eye contact with the 3 green lights. I was coming in on a right base; I then pulled my flaps down for 10 degrees. I was at a speed of 100 KTS at this time. I turned on final and flipped my landing light on. I settled in on the numbers and touched the wheels down at approximately 75-80 KTS; the tires squealed and I slightly ballooned; so I added a little power to level; I was in ground effect and level so I pulled the power back and started setting her back down. It just kept going down. By the time I realized something wasn't right I was going too slow and contact with the ground had been made; my gear had somehow been knocked back up when I ballooned; or it didn't stop and lock like normal. Something malfunctioned. I'm not sure at this time; it's too early to say; but I would bet that the problem stems from the work that was recently done by the shop. The gear was an item he demanded be worked on although there were no indications that it needed to be. I had certainly not had any problems; not even having to recycle my gear. If I knew then what I know now; I think that the recycling incident that night just before the gear malfunctioned; was something going bad and I know now to double check; before I continue my landing. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter still believes that the gear malfunctioned or was compromised by recent maintenance activity although no defects could be found when the gear was tested on the ground. The aircraft is still in the repair shop and has not been flown since the incident.

Title: BE35 PILOT REPORTS LANDING GEAR COLLAPSE DURING LANDING.

Narrative: I TOOK OFF; AND AS I CLRED THE RWY I PULLED THE GEAR LEVER UP. AS I CONTINUED MY CLB TO 2500 FT AND SET THE PLANE UP IN CONFIGN; I LISTENED TO ATIS; THEN CALLED TWR WITH THE LETTER OF ATIS RECEIVED AND GAVE MY POS AND INTENTIONS TO LAND; FULL STOP. THEY GAVE ME DIRECTIONS AND CLRNC TO LAND. I THEN PULLED PWR BACK AND PULLED THE LNDG GEAR DOWN TO SLOW DOWN AND PREPARE FOR LNDG. I HEARD THE GEAR COME DOWN AND MADE EYE CONTACT WITH THE 3 GREEN LIGHTS. I WAS COMING IN ON A R BASE; I THEN PULLED MY FLAPS DOWN FOR 10 DEGS. I WAS AT A SPD OF 100 KTS AT THIS TIME. I TURNED ON FINAL AND FLIPPED MY LNDG LIGHT ON. I SETTLED IN ON THE NUMBERS AND TOUCHED THE WHEELS DOWN AT APPROX 75-80 KTS; THE TIRES SQUEALED AND I SLIGHTLY BALLOONED; SO I ADDED A LITTLE PWR TO LEVEL; I WAS IN GND EFFECT AND LEVEL SO I PULLED THE PWR BACK AND STARTED SETTING HER BACK DOWN. IT JUST KEPT GOING DOWN. BY THE TIME I REALIZED SOMETHING WASN'T RIGHT I WAS GOING TOO SLOW AND CONTACT WITH THE GND HAD BEEN MADE; MY GEAR HAD SOMEHOW BEEN KNOCKED BACK UP WHEN I BALLOONED; OR IT DIDN'T STOP AND LOCK LIKE NORMAL. SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONED. I'M NOT SURE AT THIS TIME; IT'S TOO EARLY TO SAY; BUT I WOULD BET THAT THE PROB STEMS FROM THE WORK THAT WAS RECENTLY DONE BY THE SHOP. THE GEAR WAS AN ITEM HE DEMANDED BE WORKED ON ALTHOUGH THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS THAT IT NEEDED TO BE. I HAD CERTAINLY NOT HAD ANY PROBS; NOT EVEN HAVING TO RECYCLE MY GEAR. IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW; I THINK THAT THE RECYCLING INCIDENT THAT NIGHT JUST BEFORE THE GEAR MALFUNCTIONED; WAS SOMETHING GOING BAD AND I KNOW NOW TO DOUBLE CHK; BEFORE I CONTINUE MY LNDG. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE REPORTER STILL BELIEVES THAT THE GEAR MALFUNCTIONED OR WAS COMPROMISED BY RECENT MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY ALTHOUGH NO DEFECTS COULD BE FOUND WHEN THE GEAR WAS TESTED ON THE GROUND. THE ACFT IS STILL IN THE REPAIR SHOP AND HAS NOT BEEN FLOWN SINCE THE INCIDENT.
