Narrative:

Encountered moderate wake turbulence at 7000 ft; level flight; 250 KIAS. Resulted in approximately 40 degree bank; rolling to the left. Nearest aircraft on TCAS was 8 NM ahead of us. Controller stated we were following an erj; but that a 777 was 20 miles ahead of us. No other clues to the upset.

Narrative: ENCOUNTERED MODERATE WAKE TURB AT 7000 FT; LEVEL FLT; 250 KIAS. RESULTED IN APPROX 40 DEG BANK; ROLLING TO THE L. NEAREST ACFT ON TCAS WAS 8 NM AHEAD OF US. CTLR STATED WE WERE FOLLOWING AN ERJ; BUT THAT A 777 WAS 20 MILES AHEAD OF US. NO OTHER CLUES TO THE UPSET.
