Narrative:
During a free balloon flight; myself and crew smelled an odor that we believed to be propane. We therefore elected to make a precautionary landing. We landed uneventfully in a residential area (on the street). Landing resulted in no injuries to the flight crew or anyone on the ground. No damage to any property except 1 mailbox. In the interest of safety; we felt a precautionary landing was the best option.
