Narrative:

After takeoff from mia runway 8R; captain turned to assigned 120 degree heading. Tower switched us to departure frequency. After changing to departure frequency; departure was in the process of pointing us out as traffic to a cessna flying north at 2000 ft (west of biscayne bay). I saw traffic and told captain it was '1 O'clock.' departure frequency was very busy; so captain turned left about 40 degrees and leveled off about 1500 ft. At this point; the cessna was still about 2 mi and about our 2 O'clock position. I told captain that traffic was flying north; captain then aggressively turned back to the right. Estimate we got within 1/2 to 1/4 mi from cessna about 500 ft below. ATC never gave us any heading or TA; and did not even mention other aircraft to us.

Title: B737 FLT CREW REPORTS CONFLICT WITH CESSNA AT 2000 FEET SHORTLY AFTER TKOF FROM RWY 8R AT MIA. EVASIVE ACTION IS USED TO EVENTUALLY FLY BEHIND AND BELOW THE NORTH BOUND CESSNA.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF FROM MIA RWY 8R; CAPT TURNED TO ASSIGNED 120 DEG HDG. TWR SWITCHED US TO DEP FREQ. AFTER CHANGING TO DEP FREQ; DEP WAS IN THE PROCESS OF POINTING US OUT AS TFC TO A CESSNA FLYING N AT 2000 FT (W OF BISCAYNE BAY). I SAW TFC AND TOLD CAPT IT WAS '1 O'CLOCK.' DEP FREQ WAS VERY BUSY; SO CAPT TURNED L ABOUT 40 DEGS AND LEVELED OFF ABOUT 1500 FT. AT THIS POINT; THE CESSNA WAS STILL ABOUT 2 MI AND ABOUT OUR 2 O'CLOCK POS. I TOLD CAPT THAT TFC WAS FLYING N; CAPT THEN AGGRESSIVELY TURNED BACK TO THE R. ESTIMATE WE GOT WITHIN 1/2 TO 1/4 MI FROM CESSNA ABOUT 500 FT BELOW. ATC NEVER GAVE US ANY HDG OR TA; AND DID NOT EVEN MENTION OTHER ACFT TO US.
