Narrative:

Recently I have noticed more trouble with the flight deck headsets that are permanently mounted to the aircraft sidewall above the captain's and the first officer's head. I don't remember this small plastic mounting piece being installed on the aircraft when air carrier first took delivery. The headset plug was stuck in the window track and this time I noticed it before I slid my window back or I am sure there would have been a jammed window. I have also noticed the headsets wrapped around the window track; jammed into the escape rope hatch; jammed into the spare bulb kit and also coming loose from the velcro attachment and dropping into pilots arm or flight bag at inconvenient times. I find this setup to be unsafe as sometimes I don't notice if it falls into the window track and I don't want my window jamming if I need to open it in an emergency.callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the location of these headsets is a constant problem for the flight crews. They will and do jam the sliding window as a result of the velcro attach failing after a few uses. Reporter believes the placement of the headset mountings on the cockpit sidewall above the captain's and first officer's head was his carrier's design implementation.

Narrative: RECENTLY I HAVE NOTICED MORE TROUBLE WITH THE FLT DECK HEADSETS THAT ARE PERMANENTLY MOUNTED TO THE ACFT SIDEWALL ABOVE THE CAPT'S AND THE FO'S HEAD. I DON'T REMEMBER THIS SMALL PLASTIC MOUNTING PIECE BEING INSTALLED ON THE ACFT WHEN ACR FIRST TOOK DELIVERY. THE HEADSET PLUG WAS STUCK IN THE WINDOW TRACK AND THIS TIME I NOTICED IT BEFORE I SLID MY WINDOW BACK OR I AM SURE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A JAMMED WINDOW. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THE HEADSETS WRAPPED AROUND THE WINDOW TRACK; JAMMED INTO THE ESCAPE ROPE HATCH; JAMMED INTO THE SPARE BULB KIT AND ALSO COMING LOOSE FROM THE VELCRO ATTACHMENT AND DROPPING INTO PLTS ARM OR FLT BAG AT INCONVENIENT TIMES. I FIND THIS SETUP TO BE UNSAFE AS SOMETIMES I DON'T NOTICE IF IT FALLS INTO THE WINDOW TRACK AND I DON'T WANT MY WINDOW JAMMING IF I NEED TO OPEN IT IN AN EMER.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THE LOCATION OF THESE HEADSETS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM FOR THE FLIGHT CREWS. THEY WILL AND DO JAM THE SLIDING WINDOW AS A RESULT OF THE VELCRO ATTACH FAILING AFTER A FEW USES. RPTR BELIEVES THE PLACEMENT OF THE HEADSET MOUNTINGS ON THE COCKPIT SIDEWALL ABOVE THE CAPT'S AND FO'S HEAD WAS HIS CARRIER'S DESIGN IMPLEMENTATION.
