Narrative:

Right at rotation had a bird strike in the #2 engine. A loud vibration was heard and felt. N1 vibration gauge was indicating higher than normal; around 4.5 units and #2 egt was higher than normal after climb thrust was set; about 600 degrees. Alerted tower that we would most likely have to return to land. Sent ACARS message to company. Dispatch acknowledged our return. Advised flight attendants and passenger of the situation and that we would be returning to land. Uneventful landing. After landing and clearing runway; shut down #2 engine and taxied back to gate.

ALERTED TWR THAT WE WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE TO RETURN TO LAND. SENT ACARS MESSAGE TO COMPANY. DISPATCH ACKNOWLEDGED OUR RETURN. ADVISED FLT ATTENDANTS AND PAX OF THE SITUATION AND THAT WE WOULD BE RETURNING TO LAND. UNEVENTFUL LNDG. AFTER LNDG AND CLRING RWY; SHUT DOWN #2 ENG AND TAXIED BACK TO GATE.
