Narrative:

On landing; this panel came off the aircraft. The fasteners on this panel are poorly designed; they can give a false sense of being tight when they are not. Engineering document was issued to address the problem of screws coming loose on the strut; however; panel 5828 was omitted from the requirement of locktite.

Title: A B737-500 #2 ENG PYLON STRUT PANEL #5828 DEPARTED ACFT ON LANDING. PANEL FASTENERS WERE OMITTED FROM ENGINEERING DOCUMENT TO LOCKTITE.

Narrative: ON LNDG; THIS PANEL CAME OFF THE ACFT. THE FASTENERS ON THIS PANEL ARE POORLY DESIGNED; THEY CAN GIVE A FALSE SENSE OF BEING TIGHT WHEN THEY ARE NOT. ENGINEERING DOCUMENT WAS ISSUED TO ADDRESS THE PROB OF SCREWS COMING LOOSE ON THE STRUT; HOWEVER; PANEL 5828 WAS OMITTED FROM THE REQUIREMENT OF LOCKTITE.
