Narrative:

Aircraft was due a slide change on the 2R door in ZZZ. The mechanic and myself worked the change. I performed the rii and the mechanic replaced the slide. Later we came to realize that the door confign was not what we thought; and that the door slide was installed on the wrong door. The aircraft was stopped in ZZZ1 and the slide was installed in the correct position. Confusion on the different entry door configns. The company paperwork not having detailed door locations. And for myself relying on experience with aircraft that have only 4 entry doors; 2 on each side. I think adding the door locations for the different configns to the task card and also when time control items come due adding the serial number in the work card would help.
