Narrative:

In oceanic airspace at FL330; we requested a turn back to ZZZ and FL250 because the #1 engine 'filter oil pressure' light illuminated and oil pressure dropped. Awaiting clearance the engine reached critical parameters necessitating shutdown. We declared an emergency and deviated from our clearance by descending out of FL330 being unable to maintain altitude on 2 engines. We received clearance for lower altitude and return to ZZZ. In contact with center radar we cancelled the emergency and landed without incident.
