Narrative:

The mission was a dedicated test flight in assigned operating area on an IFR clearance. I requested a climb to FL430 and above for pressurization checks. We were told to switch to center frequency which is the dedicated center ATC controller. Center assigned us an intermediate altitude of FL230. The climb was initiated from 15000 ft MSL and accidentally climbed through FL230. We realized the mistake when the controller asked what our current altitude was. Immediate action was then taken and we descended and leveled off at FL230. The apex in the errant climb was FL245. Once at FL230 we were then given a series of climbs and the rest of the flight proceeded without incident.

Title: A TEST FLT FIGHTER PLT EXCEEDED THE ASSIGNED FL230 DURING A CLB BY 1500 FT BEFORE REALIZING THE ERROR AND DSNDING.

Narrative: THE MISSION WAS A DEDICATED TEST FLT IN ASSIGNED OPERATING AREA ON AN IFR CLRNC. I REQUESTED A CLB TO FL430 AND ABOVE FOR PRESSURIZATION CHKS. WE WERE TOLD TO SWITCH TO CTR FREQ WHICH IS THE DEDICATED CTR ATC CTLR. CTR ASSIGNED US AN INTERMEDIATE ALT OF FL230. THE CLB WAS INITIATED FROM 15000 FT MSL AND ACCIDENTALLY CLBED THROUGH FL230. WE REALIZED THE MISTAKE WHEN THE CTLR ASKED WHAT OUR CURRENT ALT WAS. IMMEDIATE ACTION WAS THEN TAKEN AND WE DSNDED AND LEVELED OFF AT FL230. THE APEX IN THE ERRANT CLB WAS FL245. ONCE AT FL230 WE WERE THEN GIVEN A SERIES OF CLBS AND THE REST OF THE FLT PROCEEDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.
