Narrative:

Cruise flight at FL290 right engine oil filter EICAS displayed. Ran checklist; retarded throttle; elected to return ZZZ (90 mi away) as closest in time and distance on a 3:1 descent. Declared emergency; etc. About 5 mins into return; right oil temperature starts rising rapidly to 178 degrees C. At maximum we elected to shut down and secure the right engine. After checklists were complete captain took aircraft for landing. We were vectored in to runway. Flight attendants briefed on normal landing but equipment standing by. Tower told us we had the whole runway no need to hold short of intersecting runway. The captain landed and attempted to turn just short of the runway. He could not make it so elected to stop and at that point a stuck microphone occurred on frequency tower and initially we were unable to obtain taxi directions. At that point a flight was told to go around behind us but also could not hear and landed. We had already cleared on the taxiway. We proceeded to the gate and shut down the aircraft uneventfully. Mechanics then informed us that all 4 chip detectors were full of metal. We also noted there had been a repeat write-up on high oil temperature which had been cleared by maintenance.

Title: B757-200 RISING OIL TEMP CAUSED ENG SHUTDOWN AFTER DEP. FLT RETURNED FOR EMER LNDG.

Narrative: CRUISE FLT AT FL290 R ENG OIL FILTER EICAS DISPLAYED. RAN CHKLIST; RETARDED THROTTLE; ELECTED TO RETURN ZZZ (90 MI AWAY) AS CLOSEST IN TIME AND DISTANCE ON A 3:1 DSCNT. DECLARED EMER; ETC. ABOUT 5 MINS INTO RETURN; R OIL TEMP STARTS RISING RAPIDLY TO 178 DEGS C. AT MAX WE ELECTED TO SHUT DOWN AND SECURE THE R ENG. AFTER CHKLISTS WERE COMPLETE CAPT TOOK ACFT FOR LNDG. WE WERE VECTORED IN TO RWY. FLT ATTENDANTS BRIEFED ON NORMAL LNDG BUT EQUIP STANDING BY. TWR TOLD US WE HAD THE WHOLE RWY NO NEED TO HOLD SHORT OF INTERSECTING RWY. THE CAPT LANDED AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN JUST SHORT OF THE RWY. HE COULD NOT MAKE IT SO ELECTED TO STOP AND AT THAT POINT A STUCK MIKE OCCURRED ON FREQ TWR AND INITIALLY WE WERE UNABLE TO OBTAIN TAXI DIRECTIONS. AT THAT POINT A FLT WAS TOLD TO GO AROUND BEHIND US BUT ALSO COULD NOT HEAR AND LANDED. WE HAD ALREADY CLRED ON THE TXWY. WE PROCEEDED TO THE GATE AND SHUT DOWN THE ACFT UNEVENTFULLY. MECHS THEN INFORMED US THAT ALL 4 CHIP DETECTORS WERE FULL OF METAL. WE ALSO NOTED THERE HAD BEEN A REPEAT WRITE-UP ON HIGH OIL TEMP WHICH HAD BEEN CLRED BY MAINT.
