Narrative:

I was assigned to aircraft X as a maintenance visit check. I had finished the check; and started working on the aft slide. I removed the aft service slide according to the serial number; and installed the one they had on pre-draw not aware that it was not the right one. I knew that I did not check when I was informed what had happened. When I took the used slide out of its case and installed the new slide in the case; and installed it back on the door. I forgot to check to see if the girt bar would fit in the girt bar slots. The crew discovered what had happened; because the girt bar would not fit.
