Narrative:

Bos for several months has had construction to change the taxiway layout. Txwys at the approach of runway 4L are being realigned/changed. Today was my 1ST day working on the new layout and it is not reflected on the asde. Asde still has the old taxiway layout. As a result; aircraft targets are dropping off the asde in a critical area; at the approach end of an active runway. The asde maps needed to be redrawn in time for the new txwys being opened. The asde only shows targets in the movement area; and the new areas are not depicted; so targets disappear.

Title: BOS TWR CTLR VOICED CONCERN REGARDING THE FUNCTIONALITY AND UPDATING OF THE ASDE MAPS WITH A RESPECT TO NEWLY MODIFIED TAXI WAYS.

Narrative: BOS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS HAS HAD CONSTRUCTION TO CHANGE THE TXWY LAYOUT. TXWYS AT THE APCH OF RWY 4L ARE BEING REALIGNED/CHANGED. TODAY WAS MY 1ST DAY WORKING ON THE NEW LAYOUT AND IT IS NOT REFLECTED ON THE ASDE. ASDE STILL HAS THE OLD TXWY LAYOUT. AS A RESULT; ACFT TARGETS ARE DROPPING OFF THE ASDE IN A CRITICAL AREA; AT THE APCH END OF AN ACTIVE RWY. THE ASDE MAPS NEEDED TO BE REDRAWN IN TIME FOR THE NEW TXWYS BEING OPENED. THE ASDE ONLY SHOWS TARGETS IN THE MOVEMENT AREA; AND THE NEW AREAS ARE NOT DEPICTED; SO TARGETS DISAPPEAR.
