Narrative:
After starting and taxiing to runway 33; the runway with the greatest headwind component; I completed my run-up and taxied to the hold short line. I looked right to ensure no traffic was on final approach and looked left to ensure no aircraft on the right. I did not notice any traffic. I had not heard any aircraft make any radio calls. I made my radio call on CTAF and taxied into position. At this time I saw the first piper cub rotating and banking to the left of runway 15 to avoid me. After that aircraft was airborne; another cub behind the first took off and followed the first cub to the left of runway 15. One of the cub pilots in a concerned voice asked if I had heard them taking off. I replied that I had not and if they had heard my radio call. To this; the cub pilot said she had heard me make my report of taking runway 33 with a departure to the east. I told the cub pilot that I had not seen or heard her and I apologized for the incident. The cub pilot responded by telling me to have a safe flight. I departed the area to the east with no further incident.
