Narrative:

The airplane had been inspected prior to flying to the start of race and also inspected again as a required inspection to be a part of the race. The incident happened at ZZZ1 which was the third leg of the race. We had already flown the timing line and were landing at ZZZ1; which is a twred airport. On touchdown; the tire pulled to the left as if it had seized; the brake was unresponsive and the airplane veered to the left towards the grass. I thought I would be able to stop the airplane on the grass; but I saw signs in front of me; so I added power and was able to recover and get the airplane airborne. As it lifted; the left wheel pan clipped the runway 9/27 runway hold short sign; causing me to wobble some more. I fought the wobble; leveled the wings and was able to go around. On the second attempt to land; the wheel still seemed locked as the same thing happened; the plane pulled to the left; so I took off again. On the third attempt to land; I floated down the runway; didn't touch the brakes or the rudder and managed to roll to the end and stop. On taxi to the FBO; the left wheel was shaking. Damage to the airplane: left wheel cover; tail cone cracked; elevators may be damaged; and the propeller has a small ding. Apparently; I hit a runway light; which is yellow and the ding on propeller shows yellow paint. Only 1 blade is affected. With hindsight; I had come from ZZZ which was hilly and I had used the hand brake. I was able to taxi and take off in ZZZ with no problem; but I'm wondering if the hand brake had not fully released or perhaps re-engaged during the flight. The airplane is now in ZZZ waiting for repairs and I have returned to my home base.

Title: A 182 PLT FELT THE LEFT BRAKE LOCK ON LANDING. AFTER TWO TKOFS/GO AROUNDS THE PLT LANDED TO FIND TAIL CONE; WHEEL COVER; PROP AND ELEVATOR DAMAGE.

Narrative: THE AIRPLANE HAD BEEN INSPECTED PRIOR TO FLYING TO THE START OF RACE AND ALSO INSPECTED AGAIN AS A REQUIRED INSPECTION TO BE A PART OF THE RACE. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT ZZZ1 WHICH WAS THE THIRD LEG OF THE RACE. WE HAD ALREADY FLOWN THE TIMING LINE AND WERE LNDG AT ZZZ1; WHICH IS A TWRED ARPT. ON TOUCHDOWN; THE TIRE PULLED TO THE L AS IF IT HAD SEIZED; THE BRAKE WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND THE AIRPLANE VEERED TO THE L TOWARDS THE GRASS. I THOUGHT I WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP THE AIRPLANE ON THE GRASS; BUT I SAW SIGNS IN FRONT OF ME; SO I ADDED PWR AND WAS ABLE TO RECOVER AND GET THE AIRPLANE AIRBORNE. AS IT LIFTED; THE L WHEEL PAN CLIPPED THE RWY 9/27 RWY HOLD SHORT SIGN; CAUSING ME TO WOBBLE SOME MORE. I FOUGHT THE WOBBLE; LEVELED THE WINGS AND WAS ABLE TO GO AROUND. ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT TO LAND; THE WHEEL STILL SEEMED LOCKED AS THE SAME THING HAPPENED; THE PLANE PULLED TO THE L; SO I TOOK OFF AGAIN. ON THE THIRD ATTEMPT TO LAND; I FLOATED DOWN THE RWY; DIDN'T TOUCH THE BRAKES OR THE RUDDER AND MANAGED TO ROLL TO THE END AND STOP. ON TAXI TO THE FBO; THE L WHEEL WAS SHAKING. DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE: L WHEEL COVER; TAIL CONE CRACKED; ELEVATORS MAY BE DAMAGED; AND THE PROP HAS A SMALL DING. APPARENTLY; I HIT A RWY LIGHT; WHICH IS YELLOW AND THE DING ON PROP SHOWS YELLOW PAINT. ONLY 1 BLADE IS AFFECTED. WITH HINDSIGHT; I HAD COME FROM ZZZ WHICH WAS HILLY AND I HAD USED THE HAND BRAKE. I WAS ABLE TO TAXI AND TAKE OFF IN ZZZ WITH NO PROB; BUT I'M WONDERING IF THE HAND BRAKE HAD NOT FULLY RELEASED OR PERHAPS RE-ENGAGED DURING THE FLT. THE AIRPLANE IS NOW IN ZZZ WAITING FOR REPAIRS AND I HAVE RETURNED TO MY HOME BASE.
