Narrative:
I had just stood the power levers up and started rolling. About the time I was going to set flex we had an ECAM: 'engine overspd; and overtemp.' I pulled the power to idle and the temperature stayed in the red. I then shut down engine #1. The first officer notified the tower and we cleared the runway. Called maintenance; dispatch; ramp and returned to gate. Maintenance found engine N2 overspd and temperature tp 645 for 9 seconds. We swapped airplane and continued flight.
