Narrative:
While flight X was still at the gate; smoke began to enter the cabin after an APU automatic shutdown. I observed that the smoke was beginning to become thicker and initiated a quick deplaning through the forward cabin door while asking the passenger to leave their personal belongings on board. All passenger left the aircraft without injury. I made contact with maintenance control and coordination for contract maintenance to meet the aircraft. After all the maintenance procedures were completed and contract maintenance had conferred with maintenance coordinator; the aircraft was signed off and we departed.
