Narrative:

El paso runway 22 runway centerline markings are not visible. While on the takeoff roll; I noticed that the runway 22 runway centerline markings were not visible because they were completely obscured by black rubber marks on the runway. Tracking the runway centerline during takeoff and landing becomes more difficult when the runway centerline markings are not visible. I recommend that el paso airport ground maintenance crew make arrangements to strip the rubber from runway 22 and repaint the runway centerline markings. Appropriately maintained runway markings allow pilots to more easily track the runway centerline and make the takeoff and landing events safer particularly during times of low visibility; precipitation; and darkness.

Title: A B737-700 CAPT RPTS ELP RWY MARKINGS ARE OBSCURED BY RUBBER MARKS.

Narrative: EL PASO RWY 22 RUNWAY CTRLINE MARKINGS ARE NOT VISIBLE. WHILE ON THE TKOF ROLL; I NOTICED THAT THE RWY 22 RWY CTRLINE MARKINGS WERE NOT VISIBLE BECAUSE THEY WERE COMPLETELY OBSCURED BY BLACK RUBBER MARKS ON THE RWY. TRACKING THE RWY CTRLINE DURING TKOF AND LNDG BECOMES MORE DIFFICULT WHEN THE RWY CTRLINE MARKINGS ARE NOT VISIBLE. I RECOMMEND THAT EL PASO ARPT GND MAINT CREW MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO STRIP THE RUBBER FROM RWY 22 AND REPAINT THE RWY CTRLINE MARKINGS. APPROPRIATELY MAINTAINED RWY MARKINGS ALLOW PLTS TO MORE EASILY TRACK THE RWY CTRLINE AND MAKE THE TKOF AND LNDG EVENTS SAFER PARTICULARLY DURING TIMES OF LOW VISIBILITY; PRECIPITATION; AND DARKNESS.
