Narrative:

I installed a new electric fuel pump into a PA28-161 that turned out to be incorrect. The part number was correct except for the suffix 'east' at the end. I assumed this meant electronic. The east stood for experimental. I failed to check this before installing the part. I recommended that other mechanics thoroughly inspect all documentation sent with the new part to ensure it is in fact the correct part before installing. Also to be sure to include the authority/authorized release form with the logbook entry.
