Narrative:

First officer flying. On climb out; saw 'land as soon as possible' -- clicked recall on ECAM. It displayed 'avionics smoke' ECAM. We declared an emergency; told departure we need to land as soon as possible. We were complying with the ECAM; call the flight attendant; told them cabin advisory. Made a PA to the cabin. At this point we switched PNF/PF. Captain landed. We exited runway. Asked ATC if they saw smoke. They said no. We asked the fire trucks to look. They said no. At that point we made another PA and taxied to the gate.
