Narrative:

Flight was normal until pulling into the gate. The guide man (gm) raised his arms as we approached the lead in line. Taxi speed was approximately 6 KTS slowing to 2 KTS as we got closer to the stop line. The guide man raised his arms indicating distance to stop and just a split second before he crossed his wands I felt an impact. Based on the way the aircraft rocked I suspected the left side. Since this is a dual jetbridge I could not see the left wing or engine as the forward jetbridge was obstructing my view. I also saw the guide man raise his arms in anguish and rush to get a headset. I started the APU and instructed the first officer to shut down #2 engine. The first headset did not work. The APU started and I shut down #1. The guide man came on interphone and I asked what happened. He stated he had brought us in on the wrong line and he needed to move us back to use the jetbridge. Very shortly after he stated he needed to leave us so pictures could be taken. I informed the flight attendants and passenger as to our status. I ACARS'ed dispatch and called the flight manager to get on site guidance. After pictures had been taken we pushed back about 10 ft to offload. We did a shutdown checklist and I went down on the ramp to see what happened. The wrong line the guide man spoke about was the stop line. He had placed the chocks at the B757 line not the A320 line. We had struck the legs of the aft jetbridge (which was in the proper place) with the leading edge of the left wing. Maybe if the label for which; aircraft uses which; line was turned and visible to the cockpit I may have been able to back up the guide man.

Title: A320 FLT CREW HITS JET BRIDGE DURING PARKING MANEUVER UNDER GUIDANCE OF MARSHALL USING B757 STOP LINE.

I INFORMED THE FLT ATTENDANTS AND PAX AS TO OUR STATUS. I ACARS'ED DISPATCH AND CALLED THE FLT MGR TO GET ON SITE GUIDANCE. AFTER PICTURES HAD BEEN TAKEN WE PUSHED BACK ABOUT 10 FT TO OFFLOAD. WE DID A SHUTDOWN CHKLIST AND I WENT DOWN ON THE RAMP TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED. THE WRONG LINE THE GUIDE MAN SPOKE ABOUT WAS THE STOP LINE. HE HAD PLACED THE CHOCKS AT THE B757 LINE NOT THE A320 LINE. WE HAD STRUCK THE LEGS OF THE AFT JETBRIDGE (WHICH WAS IN THE PROPER PLACE) WITH THE LEADING EDGE OF THE L WING. MAYBE IF THE LABEL FOR WHICH; ACFT USES WHICH; LINE WAS TURNED AND VISIBLE TO THE COCKPIT I MAY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO BACK UP THE GUIDE MAN.
