Narrative:

Approaching joses intersection; the first officer called ZMA on VHF 2 and was given clearance after joses; direct forst direct flipr. Signed off with port au prince and switched to ZMA over joses. I selected direct flipr. About 40 mi northwest of joses; miami asked if we were deviating for WX; which is when we realized I had omitted forst which headed us close to cuban airspace. Then entered direct forst. This underscores the need for both pilots to listen to and verify clrncs.
