Narrative:

Cleared by mfe ground to taxi to runway 13. Nearing takeoff end of runway 13 saw what appeared to be an ILS hold short line on the parallel taxiway and what appeared to be the runway hold short line perpendicular to the departure end in normal hold short position. As I passed over the first hold short line it now appeared that the second hold short line had been painted over. I stopped the aircraft to query tower. Mfe tower cleared us for takeoff and informed us that we had taxied past the hold short. We acknowledged the error and departed without further incident. The departure end of runway 13 at mfe is poorly marked and is conducive to misinterpretation.
