Narrative:

Am departure with snow/ice on the jet. My preflight confirmed that deicing still needed to be completed. My understanding from the gate agent was that he aircraft would be deiced once the passenger were boarded and the door closed. I pulled out the checklist to review while accomplishing other preflight items in preparing for briefing and departure. Passenger were now well into boarding and we were about to call for clearance on clearance delivery. We noticed an aft cargo smoke warning ECAM with associated lights and chimes. I called ECAM while the captain accomplished step 1 and turned off the isolation valve. He instructed that I not fire the bottle as they were still loading bags; he had also seen false indication in similar situations. I got up to go outside and see what was happening while selecting the doors page and noticed that the aft pit was closed. I informed the captain the door was closed and was now more concerned that there was fire on the jet. Almost immediately the captain noticed smoke in the flight deck and the cabin. The warning had gone away after the isolation valve closed and then re-occurred. The captain now requested that I fire the bottle. The captain called for fire trucks on communication 1 and made a PA for the passenger and flight attendants to get off through the forward door while I told station what we were doing on the other radio. They mentioned something about glycol fumes. I was not aware of any deicing taking place and ignored the comment based on cockpit warning and indications and the rather thick smoke in the cabin. The passenger exited while the captain and I were sure the cockpit was secure. We did not use a checklist for this. When sure everyone was off I exited through the jetway and noticed passenger and flight attendants congregating near the doorway. I asked the purser to get everyone out of the jetway. We then went down the ramp and discussed with fire fighters and station personnel. I repeated several times what events had transpired to appropriate personnel.callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the smoke indication was definitely caused by deicing fluid entering the air conditioning system. The deicing crew was admonished for not informing the flight crew that they were ready and to configure the aircraft for deicing.

Title: A320 CREW HAS CARGO SMOKE WARNING DURING PAX BOARDING AND ORDERS EVACUATION THROUGH FORWARD ENTRANCE DOOR.

Narrative: AM DEP WITH SNOW/ICE ON THE JET. MY PREFLT CONFIRMED THAT DEICING STILL NEEDED TO BE COMPLETED. MY UNDERSTANDING FROM THE GATE AGENT WAS THAT HE ACFT WOULD BE DEICED ONCE THE PAX WERE BOARDED AND THE DOOR CLOSED. I PULLED OUT THE CHKLIST TO REVIEW WHILE ACCOMPLISHING OTHER PREFLT ITEMS IN PREPARING FOR BRIEFING AND DEP. PAX WERE NOW WELL INTO BOARDING AND WE WERE ABOUT TO CALL FOR CLRNC ON CD. WE NOTICED AN AFT CARGO SMOKE WARNING ECAM WITH ASSOCIATED LIGHTS AND CHIMES. I CALLED ECAM WHILE THE CAPT ACCOMPLISHED STEP 1 AND TURNED OFF THE ISOLATION VALVE. I INFORMED THE CAPT THE DOOR WAS CLOSED AND WAS NOW MORE CONCERNED THAT THERE WAS FIRE ON THE JET. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE CAPT NOTICED SMOKE IN THE FLT DECK AND THE CABIN. THE WARNING HAD GONE AWAY AFTER THE ISOLATION VALVE CLOSED AND THEN RE-OCCURRED. THE CAPT NOW REQUESTED THAT I FIRE THE BOTTLE. THE CAPT CALLED FOR FIRE TRUCKS ON COM 1 AND MADE A PA FOR THE PAX AND FLT ATTENDANTS TO GET OFF THROUGH THE FORWARD DOOR WHILE I TOLD STATION WHAT WE WERE DOING ON THE OTHER RADIO. THEY MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT GLYCOL FUMES. I WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY DEICING TAKING PLACE AND IGNORED THE COMMENT BASED ON COCKPIT WARNING AND INDICATIONS AND THE RATHER THICK SMOKE IN THE CABIN. THE PAX EXITED WHILE THE CAPT AND I WERE SURE THE COCKPIT WAS SECURE. WE DID NOT USE A CHKLIST FOR THIS. WHEN SURE EVERYONE WAS OFF I EXITED THROUGH THE JETWAY AND NOTICED PAX AND FLT ATTENDANTS CONGREGATING NEAR THE DOORWAY. I ASKED THE PURSER TO GET EVERYONE OUT OF THE JETWAY. WE THEN WENT DOWN THE RAMP AND DISCUSSED WITH FIRE FIGHTERS AND STATION PERSONNEL. I REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES WHAT EVENTS HAD TRANSPIRED TO APPROPRIATE PERSONNEL.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE SMOKE INDICATION WAS DEFINITELY CAUSED BY DEICING FLUID ENTERING THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THE DEICING CREW WAS ADMONISHED FOR NOT INFORMING THE FLT CREW THAT THEY WERE READY AND TO CONFIGURE THE ACFT FOR DEICING.
