Narrative:

Climbing out of FL250 in a beechcraft B200 king air; the pilot's side inner windshield shattered. This was a single pilot operation with no passenger on board. A lower altitude was requested. ATC; advised of the problem; gave clearance to FL240. While descending to the assigned altitude; oxygen mask was being donned and assessment of windshield damage was being done; either autoplt was inadvertently disconnected or altitude preselect button was not pushed. Aircraft descended below assigned altitude; due to distraction with situation; at 1000 ft to FL230. A climb back to assigned altitude was initiated. An emergency was declared and then ATC assigned lower altitude. Missed altitude assignment was result of distraction and non verification of altitude preselect being engaged and/or verifying of autoplt engagement also not noticing altitude descending below assigned altitude.

Title: BE200 PILOT REPORTS INNER WINDSHIELD SHATTERING CLIMBING OUT OF FL 250 WITH NO LOSS OF PRESSURIZATION. CLEARED TO FL240 PILOT DESCENDS TO FL230 WHILE PUTTING ON OXYGEN MASK AND DEALING WITH THE SITUATION.

Narrative: CLBING OUT OF FL250 IN A BEECHCRAFT B200 KING AIR; THE PLT'S SIDE INNER WINDSHIELD SHATTERED. THIS WAS A SINGLE PLT OP WITH NO PAX ON BOARD. A LOWER ALT WAS REQUESTED. ATC; ADVISED OF THE PROB; GAVE CLRNC TO FL240. WHILE DSNDING TO THE ASSIGNED ALT; OXYGEN MASK WAS BEING DONNED AND ASSESSMENT OF WINDSHIELD DAMAGE WAS BEING DONE; EITHER AUTOPLT WAS INADVERTENTLY DISCONNECTED OR ALT PRESELECT BUTTON WAS NOT PUSHED. ACFT DSNDED BELOW ASSIGNED ALT; DUE TO DISTR WITH SIT; AT 1000 FT TO FL230. A CLB BACK TO ASSIGNED ALT WAS INITIATED. AN EMER WAS DECLARED AND THEN ATC ASSIGNED LOWER ALT. MISSED ALT ASSIGNMENT WAS RESULT OF DISTR AND NON VERIFICATION OF ALT PRESELECT BEING ENGAGED AND/OR VERIFYING OF AUTOPLT ENGAGEMENT ALSO NOT NOTICING ALT DSNDING BELOW ASSIGNED ALT.
