Narrative:
Flying teb 5 departure at teb. Initial altitude on departure is 1500 ft MSL. I began to level the airplane; but was not aggressive enough and reached 1680 ft to 1700 ft MSL for approximately 2-3 seconds prior to leveling at 1500 ft MSL. Ny departure reminded us to maintain 1500 ft which I did until cleared higher; approximately 15 seconds later.
