Narrative:

We were parked at the gate with all passenger and bags loaded. It was 2 mins prior to our scheduled departure time. Then all 3 flight crew felt the airplane rocking and shaking. This was followed by an immediate sandstorm blowing from the tail to the nose of the airplane. This was caused by a B757 that was taxiing out of the alley directly behind us. The jet blast sent a bag cart into the bottom of the left wing damaging the flap drive fairing. No injuries were reported from the passenger. To prevent this in the future the operation needs to: 1) increase the distance of airplanes that are pushed in the alley. 2) aim the tailpipe of all aircraft into the alley and away from other planes. 3) tow aircraft to face north in the alley then thrust would not be directed toward any planes.
