Top of descent from FL350. Autothrottles and autoplt on. Autothrottles start to move to idle and #1 engine compressor stalls twice. Autoplt disconnected autothrottles disconnected. #1 engine ran fine at idle. N2 vibration above 5.0. Contacted dispatch and maintenance; declared emergency with ATC. Landing was uneventful. Emergency personnel noted no damage. Taxied to gate.
