Narrative:

En route from ZZZ1 to ZZZ2 we received a 'rev EICAS' message. We had no yaw or buffeting or loss of airspeed. After accomplished the QRH procedure; the captain elected to divert to ZZZ rather than continue to ZZZ2. We declared an emergency due to a planned overweight landing. The landing at ZZZ was uneventful; and crash fire rescue equipment responded even though the captain had said that assistance was not needed. After arrival at ZZZ; the captain mentioned to me that when he briefed the flight attendants on the situation; he inadvertently neglected to let them know that we had declared an emergency due to the overweight landing.
