Narrative:

Detailed description of the event: all preflight and departure operations check normal for flight. Upon rotation during takeoff noticed red flash on 'ecias' screen. Reaching 400 ft the following lights illuminate on 'ecias' screen...left engine fire; forward cargo fire; aft cargo fire. I then noticed left engine egt was reading 816. Pulled throttle back to attempt to alleviate the over-temperature situation on left engine. No other indication of an actual fire (engine parameters were normal; no fire bell; engine fire panel; F/C control light; all negative). We elected not to shut down engine and then declared an emergency. Requested ATC send crash fire rescue equipment equipment to meet us upon landing; as we were not sure exactly what the situation was ahead of us. Landing on runway 24L was uneventful other than an overweight landing and upon rollout...crash fire rescue equipment met the airplane to look us over. Thermal scanning indicated no fire of any type in the cargo area or engine. We then proceeded to taxi and park. Shutdown normal.
