Please see mmsd's 13-1; takeoff and departure section; runway 34 at night. It says 'not applicable.' what does that mean? The situation follows: northwest winds at about 12 KTS. Few clouds at 3000 ft. Visibility 10 SM. No known limitation on the use of runway 34. Our xoral 1 clearance follows the engine failure procedure for 17 miles. The captain; dispatcher and I agreed that taking off from runway 34 would be the most safe and prudent course of action. Any clarification would be appreciated.callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter advised that he had had no response from his company regarding the meaning or intent of the phrase in question. Reporter stated that the flight crew was unable to determine the meaning of the language despite a thorough review of the supporting documentation from the supplier.

Narrative: PLEASE SEE MMSD'S 13-1; TKOF AND DEP SECTION; RWY 34 AT NIGHT. IT SAYS 'NOT APPLICABLE.' WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? THE SITUATION FOLLOWS: NW WINDS AT ABOUT 12 KTS. FEW CLOUDS AT 3000 FT. VIS 10 SM. NO KNOWN LIMITATION ON THE USE OF RWY 34. OUR XORAL 1 CLRNC FOLLOWS THE ENG FAILURE PROC FOR 17 MILES. THE CAPT; DISPATCHER AND I AGREED THAT TAKING OFF FROM RWY 34 WOULD BE THE MOST SAFE AND PRUDENT COURSE OF ACTION. ANY CLARIFICATION WOULD BE APPRECIATED.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR ADVISED THAT HE HAD HAD NO RESPONSE FROM HIS COMPANY REGARDING THE MEANING OR INTENT OF THE PHRASE IN QUESTION. RPTR STATED THAT THE FLT CREW WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE MEANING OF THE LANGUAGE DESPITE A THOROUGH REVIEW OF THE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION FROM THE SUPPLIER.
