Narrative:

On initial leveloff at FL360 captain did the cruise checklist and noted engine oil quantity right engine at 7 quarts. I announced the quantity with the possibility of gulping and the need to continue to monitor and we referenced the QRH. The quantity continued slowly to decrease to 5 quarts. I elected to bring dispatch into the loop and we informed them of the engine and oil quantity. Sent a message and requested WX for abq. I went to comrdo and brought maintenance into loop. After a briefing and based on the other engine indications and parameters being normal; we suspected an oil indication problem. Flight continued with our monitoring and review of possible additional events elected to descend to FL340 in an effort to see the effect of power changes; no effect noted on engine parameters. The flight continued and we began to see a very slight increase in oil pressure split throughout most of our flight and also with maintenance we were observing a steady 4 pt spread between left and right oil pressure. The split slowly began to increase with the right engine pressure falling and oil temperatures remaining constant and normal. The oil pressure indications then became more sporadic and right pressure decreasing with an amber boxed indication. I elected to divert to ZZZ with abnormal engine indications and declared an emergency with a direct turn to ZZZ. I disconnected the autothrottle and went to idle power for the descent; throttles were only used as necessary. Landed ZZZ with no event; taxied to gate with right engine being shut down 4 mins after touchdown.

Title: B737-800 FLT CREW HAS LOW OIL QUANTITY ON R ENG; DECLARES EMER AND DIVERTS FOR LNDG.

Narrative: ON INITIAL LEVELOFF AT FL360 CAPT DID THE CRUISE CHKLIST AND NOTED ENG OIL QUANTITY R ENG AT 7 QUARTS. I ANNOUNCED THE QUANTITY WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF GULPING AND THE NEED TO CONTINUE TO MONITOR AND WE REFED THE QRH. THE QUANTITY CONTINUED SLOWLY TO DECREASE TO 5 QUARTS. I ELECTED TO BRING DISPATCH INTO THE LOOP AND WE INFORMED THEM OF THE ENG AND OIL QUANTITY. SENT A MESSAGE AND REQUESTED WX FOR ABQ. I WENT TO COMRDO AND BROUGHT MAINT INTO LOOP. AFTER A BRIEFING AND BASED ON THE OTHER ENG INDICATIONS AND PARAMETERS BEING NORMAL; WE SUSPECTED AN OIL INDICATION PROB. FLT CONTINUED WITH OUR MONITORING AND REVIEW OF POSSIBLE ADDITIONAL EVENTS ELECTED TO DSND TO FL340 IN AN EFFORT TO SEE THE EFFECT OF PWR CHANGES; NO EFFECT NOTED ON ENG PARAMETERS. THE FLT CONTINUED AND WE BEGAN TO SEE A VERY SLIGHT INCREASE IN OIL PRESSURE SPLIT THROUGHOUT MOST OF OUR FLT AND ALSO WITH MAINT WE WERE OBSERVING A STEADY 4 PT SPREAD BTWN L AND R OIL PRESSURE. THE SPLIT SLOWLY BEGAN TO INCREASE WITH THE R ENG PRESSURE FALLING AND OIL TEMPS REMAINING CONSTANT AND NORMAL. THE OIL PRESSURE INDICATIONS THEN BECAME MORE SPORADIC AND R PRESSURE DECREASING WITH AN AMBER BOXED INDICATION. I ELECTED TO DIVERT TO ZZZ WITH ABNORMAL ENG INDICATIONS AND DECLARED AN EMER WITH A DIRECT TURN TO ZZZ. I DISCONNECTED THE AUTOTHROTTLE AND WENT TO IDLE PWR FOR THE DSCNT; THROTTLES WERE ONLY USED AS NECESSARY. LANDED ZZZ WITH NO EVENT; TAXIED TO GATE WITH R ENG BEING SHUT DOWN 4 MINS AFTER TOUCHDOWN.
