Narrative:
During climb out operations contacted us on the #2 radio and informed us a piece of debris was found that looked as if it might be a part of the aircraft. After discussing the situation; we decided to return to the airport for safety. During the maintenance inspection; we were informed a piece of fairing was broken off the right engine cowl.

Title: A CRJ200 ON TKOF CLB AT 5000 FT WAS ALERTED BY ZZZ OPS OF DEBRIS FOUND ON RWY. RETURNED TO DEP ARPT. STRAKE FAIRING HAD DEPARTED R ENG COWLING.
Narrative: DURING CLBOUT OPS CONTACTED US ON THE #2 RADIO AND INFORMED US A PIECE OF DEBRIS WAS FOUND THAT LOOKED AS IF IT MIGHT BE A PART OF THE ACFT. AFTER DISCUSSING THE SITUATION; WE DECIDED TO RETURN TO THE ARPT FOR SAFETY. DURING THE MAINT INSPECTION; WE WERE INFORMED A PIECE OF FAIRING WAS BROKEN OFF THE R ENG COWL.
