Narrative:

During #2 engine starter removal due to oil leak from mounting pad; while installing garlock seal I think I forgot to install 'O' ring which goes on outer diameter of garlock seal. During idle run there was no leak. After aircraft left I realized I might have not installed 'O' ring.

Title: A B737-500 R ENG STARTER WAS REPLACED FOR OIL LEAKAGE. DURING INSTALLATION OF STARTER TECHNICIAN MAY HAVE FAILED TO INSTALL OUTER 'O' RING SEAL.

Narrative: DURING #2 ENG STARTER REMOVAL DUE TO OIL LEAK FROM MOUNTING PAD; WHILE INSTALLING GARLOCK SEAL I THINK I FORGOT TO INSTALL 'O' RING WHICH GOES ON OUTER DIAMETER OF GARLOCK SEAL. DURING IDLE RUN THERE WAS NO LEAK. AFTER ACFT LEFT I REALIZED I MIGHT HAVE NOT INSTALLED 'O' RING.
