Narrative:

During my BFR with my CFI we experienced a gear up landing. After completing the air-work portion (steep turns; chandelles; emergency gear extension; etc) of the BFR with my CFI we proceeded to winder airport (wdr) in winder; GA; to do landing practice. The first landing was to be a touch-and-go but was changed to a full-stop due to a departing uh-1 from a parallel taxiway on the south side of runway 23. During the taxi back to runway 23; the CFI instructed that we would do a short-field takeoff followed by a short-field landing and then return to pdk; the home field. The short-field takeoff was uneventful. The climb out was uneventful and the gear was raised. During the crosswind leg; the uh-1 was noted to be performing an automatic-gyro landing onto the landing pad adjacent to runway 23 and was considered a non-factor for our short-field landing. At midfield on the downwind leg the CFI pulled back the manifold and RPM and announced 'ok you have a simulated engine failure.' I announced the simulated engine failure to the traffic on unicom and the flaps were dropped to 25 degrees (2 notches). At this point forward I was focused on altitude; rate of descent; and distance from the landing threshold to runway 23 to position the aircraft for the simulated engine-out landing. On final full-flaps were deployed to slow the aircraft and continue on path for the runway threshold. I believe the instructor applied full RPM at about this point. The aircraft contacted the surface of the runway at approximately 700 ft past the threshold of runway 23 with the gear in the 'up' position. Contributing factors were the unexpected and un-briefed procedure (engine-out in the pattern); failure to use the verbatim checklist on this particular landing; extreme focus on setting up the position of the aircraft for the engine-out landing. We notified traffic and the FBO of the event; and exited the aircraft. The only damage was to the aircraft.

Title: A PA32R LANDED GEAR UP DURING A BFR.

Narrative: DURING MY BFR WITH MY CFI WE EXPERIENCED A GEAR UP LNDG. THE CLBOUT WAS UNEVENTFUL AND THE GEAR WAS RAISED. DURING THE XWIND LEG; THE UH-1 WAS NOTED TO BE PERFORMING AN AUTO-GYRO LNDG ONTO THE LNDG PAD ADJACENT TO RWY 23 AND WAS CONSIDERED A NON-FACTOR FOR OUR SHORT-FIELD LNDG. AT MIDFIELD ON THE DOWNWIND LEG THE CFI PULLED BACK THE MANIFOLD AND RPM AND ANNOUNCED 'OK YOU HAVE A SIMULATED ENG FAILURE.' AT THIS POINT FORWARD I WAS FOCUSED ON ALT; RATE OF DSCNT; AND DISTANCE FROM THE LNDG THRESHOLD TO RWY 23 TO POS THE ACFT FOR THE SIMULATED ENG-OUT LNDG. ON FINAL FULL-FLAPS WERE DEPLOYED TO SLOW THE ACFT AND CONTINUE ON PATH FOR THE RWY THRESHOLD. I BELIEVE THE INSTRUCTOR APPLIED FULL RPM AT ABOUT THIS POINT. THE ACFT CONTACTED THE SURFACE OF THE RWY AT APPROX 700 FT PAST THE THRESHOLD OF RWY 23 WITH THE GEAR IN THE 'UP' POS. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE THE UNEXPECTED AND UN-BRIEFED PROC (ENG-OUT IN THE PATTERN); FAILURE TO USE THE VERBATIM CHKLIST ON THIS PARTICULAR LNDG; EXTREME FOCUS ON SETTING UP THE POS OF THE ACFT FOR THE ENG-OUT LNDG. WE NOTIFIED TFC AND THE FBO OF THE EVENT; AND EXITED THE ACFT. THE ONLY DAMAGE WAS TO THE ACFT.
