Narrative:

Taxiing out; received taxi instructions from ground control to proceed east from concourse C on taxiway cn straight ahead to runway 17L. As we approached crossing taxiway M the copilot and I heard a blocked garbled transmission ending with 'microphone.' another aircraft responded to that transmission. As we proceed across taxiway M onto ed to runway 17L; I noticed an aircraft on short final for runway 17R. He was going to pass over the top of us but I didn't think too much of this as in miami we have taxiway aa that crosses in front of runway 8L/26R. In any event denver ground called our flight number and said 'stop.' which; we did. He said we were supposed to hold short of taxiway M. My copilot said we did not receive any such transmission. He said that we acknowledged the transmission. The copilot told him that was not us and had to be another aircraft. I don't believe that we did anything wrong. There is nothing that I could find on the denver charts saying that we could not taxi on that taxiway with an aircraft on short final. I believe that a better way to handle this in the future is to give taxi instructions that say to proceed on taxiway cn to hold short of taxiway M.

Title: HOLD SHORT XMISSION TO B737-800 FLT CREW IS BLOCKED AND RESPONDED TO BY ANOTHER ACFT RESULTING IN A CONFLICT WITH LNDG ACFT.

Narrative: TAXIING OUT; RECEIVED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS FROM GND CTL TO PROCEED E FROM CONCOURSE C ON TXWY CN STRAIGHT AHEAD TO RWY 17L. AS WE APCHED XING TXWY M THE COPLT AND I HEARD A BLOCKED GARBLED XMISSION ENDING WITH 'MIKE.' ANOTHER ACFT RESPONDED TO THAT XMISSION. AS WE PROCEED ACROSS TXWY M ONTO ED TO RWY 17L; I NOTICED AN ACFT ON SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 17R. HE WAS GOING TO PASS OVER THE TOP OF US BUT I DIDN'T THINK TOO MUCH OF THIS AS IN MIAMI WE HAVE TXWY AA THAT CROSSES IN FRONT OF RWY 8L/26R. IN ANY EVENT DENVER GND CALLED OUR FLT NUMBER AND SAID 'STOP.' WHICH; WE DID. HE SAID WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY M. MY COPLT SAID WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANY SUCH XMISSION. HE SAID THAT WE ACKNOWLEDGED THE XMISSION. THE COPLT TOLD HIM THAT WAS NOT US AND HAD TO BE ANOTHER ACFT. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT WE DID ANYTHING WRONG. THERE IS NOTHING THAT I COULD FIND ON THE DENVER CHARTS SAYING THAT WE COULD NOT TAXI ON THAT TXWY WITH AN ACFT ON SHORT FINAL. I BELIEVE THAT A BETTER WAY TO HANDLE THIS IN THE FUTURE IS TO GIVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS THAT SAY TO PROCEED ON TXWY CN TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY M.
