Narrative:

Engine proceeded to overheat; oil temperature went to 240+ degrees from normal 200 degrees; pressure was dropping. I saw nearby airport. Decided to land as precaution. Upon arrival noted X on runway. Flew down runway; no obstructions. Came around landed. After emergency landing I removed the engine cowl; found bird nest covering oil cooler. Because airplane is stored in closed hangar; did not remove engine cowl during preflight (which is normal preflight in accordance with pilot operating manual).
