Narrative:
Departed runway 24 teb with first officer flying teb 5 departure. Instructions were runway heading to 1500 ft then right turn 280 degrees. At 4.5 DME we were to climb to 2000 ft. The first officer and I reviewed the procedure in detail prior to takeoff and I told him I would call 4.5 DME for his climb. On the takeoff the first officer was struggling flying and I was making sure he was flying the proper heading and checked to make sure after takeoff items were completed. He was struggling with propeller settings and got distraction. I helped him with torque and propeller settings; looked up and saw he had missed the 1500 ft restr. I took controls over and pushed aircraft over to go back to 1500 ft when controller politely brought to my attention that we perhaps needed to review the procedure. I have decided that better review and more careful scan is in order.
