Narrative:

Mechanic checked oil and added oil in #1 (left) engine after passenger (5) were boarded. Mechanic completed entry in oil log and returned aircraft discrepancy logbook to aircraft; but failed to remove oil can from engine and close oil access panel. Passenger noticed and notified crew (captain and myself). Mechanic was notified and oil can removed and panel secured. Proceeded with start procedures and flight was completed without incident.

Narrative: MECH CHKED OIL AND ADDED OIL IN #1 (L) ENG AFTER PAX (5) WERE BOARDED. MECH COMPLETED ENTRY IN OIL LOG AND RETURNED ACFT DISCREPANCY LOGBOOK TO ACFT; BUT FAILED TO REMOVE OIL CAN FROM ENG AND CLOSE OIL ACCESS PANEL. PAX NOTICED AND NOTIFIED CREW (CAPT AND MYSELF).
