Narrative:

I was flying on the dodje 3 arrival to meacham airport in fort worth. I had the arrival programmed into a GNS/xls FMS with ftw as the destination. I was using a motion computing tablet pc with flight prep (paperless) software for arrival. Cabby intersection was near the edge of the screen. Somehow I did not notice the symbol telling me to turn to a heading of 280 degrees when leaving cabby intersection. The FMS turned the plane direct to ftw after cabby intersection. I thought to myself that it seemed odd that there wasn't a turn. I looked at the arrival again and didn't see the 280 degree instruction again. Shortly thereafter ATC called and instructed me to turn left to 240 degrees. I complied immediately. The third time I looked at the arrival; I did finally focus on the 280 degree heading instruction. I was flying as a single pilot at the time. This was the first time I was relying solely on the paperless arrival chart. I had 'zoomed' in to the depiction of the arrival to make it easier to read. I may have zoomed enough to make the 280 degree instruction hard to find.

Title: SW4 PLT UTILIZING STATE OF THE ART AVIONICS INCLUDING A PAPERLESS ELECTRONIC FLT BAG HAS TRACK DEV ON DODJE STAR TO FTW.

Narrative: I WAS FLYING ON THE DODJE 3 ARR TO MEACHAM ARPT IN FORT WORTH. I HAD THE ARR PROGRAMMED INTO A GNS/XLS FMS WITH FTW AS THE DEST. I WAS USING A MOTION COMPUTING TABLET PC WITH FLT PREP (PAPERLESS) SOFTWARE FOR ARR. CABBY INTXN WAS NEAR THE EDGE OF THE SCREEN. SOMEHOW I DID NOT NOTICE THE SYMBOL TELLING ME TO TURN TO A HDG OF 280 DEGS WHEN LEAVING CABBY INTXN. THE FMS TURNED THE PLANE DIRECT TO FTW AFTER CABBY INTXN. I THOUGHT TO MYSELF THAT IT SEEMED ODD THAT THERE WASN'T A TURN. I LOOKED AT THE ARR AGAIN AND DIDN'T SEE THE 280 DEG INSTRUCTION AGAIN. SHORTLY THEREAFTER ATC CALLED AND INSTRUCTED ME TO TURN L TO 240 DEGS. I COMPLIED IMMEDIATELY. THE THIRD TIME I LOOKED AT THE ARR; I DID FINALLY FOCUS ON THE 280 DEG HDG INSTRUCTION. I WAS FLYING AS A SINGLE PLT AT THE TIME. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I WAS RELYING SOLELY ON THE PAPERLESS ARR CHART. I HAD 'ZOOMED' IN TO THE DEPICTION OF THE ARR TO MAKE IT EASIER TO READ. I MAY HAVE ZOOMED ENOUGH TO MAKE THE 280 DEG INSTRUCTION HARD TO FIND.
